Dippo Offspring in DC
I spent the mid part of this week in our nation's capital as part of my orientation for the federal government. Ms. Anna was a gracious hostess and liaison to her fair city, as usual. Though I was staying at Hotel Monaco instead of the Silverman-Christianson abode, and worked both days, we saw quite a bit of each other. On my first night in DC, Anna took me to this great restaurant called Cafe Atlantico right across from the Navy Memorial. The food was delicious and even though I couldn't have what looked like some delicious cocktails, the waitress did offer all manner of Aids - lemon and lime. As we were dining, the Navy Choir and Orchestra began to play. Anna commented that this was "right up Matt's alley". Indeed. On Wednesday night, I made the short trek up to Dupont Circle where Anna and Todd entertained me by taking me to fancy chocolate shops, cooking me vegetarian fajitas, and showing me the newest Project Runway on what many civilized people have in their homes: cable tv. But not before we finished up a civil war puzzle on the dining room table. While we were preparing dinner and judging budding fashion designers on reality TV, we counted the number of times I went to the restroom. At nights end, after three hours, our tally was at least 10. They were kind enough not to charge me for a share in the water bill. Suffice it to say, I couldn't have asked for a classier visit, really. Thanks Anna and Todd!

DFR Votes
By the looks of the side bar, it appears that Kitty Hawk, NC is winning and this makes me happy. The Roosa Cohens fully intend to attend the DFR and Kitty Hawk sounds like a lovely and historical place to play bananagrams, swim, and learn about First In Flight. We'll also have an infant in tow, if all goes well. So I encourage all of you to vote for Kitty Hawk!

Phelps wins more Gold medals in one Olympics than any other aphlete!
By Jake Caddeau
Hey guys. Just finished watching the USA mens 4x100 medley relay and the US and Michael both came through. It's 11:30 pm here but I couldn't miss it. The Americans were behind entering the fly and Phelps brought them into the lead. Then Jason Lezak, the Mariano Rivera of swimming closed it out. Congratulations Michael!!!!

Wedding Bells

By Deb Silverman
In July Barb, Deb, and Judy went to Rene Mulliken's wedding in Palisades, CO. We had a beautiful drive, there were even wild flowers growing by the highway. (Plug for Colorado next summer.) Here is a photo of Judy with her bothers and sister.
PHELPS WITH COMEBACK WIN BY ONE ONEHUNDRETH OF A SECOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Jake Caddeau
Oh my god that was the most intense thing I have ever seen!!!!!!!! My heart nearly stopped!!!!! Michael Phelps was behind in the 100 Butterfly but he started making up ground. They were about to touch and Michael was beginning his last stroke and the guy in front of him's hands were about a foot from the wall. Phelps finished his stroke and touched first!!!! My mom thinks that since that sensors basically pick up anything the force of the water Phelps was propelling was picked up by the sensors!!!! Anyway the times were 50:12 (Phelps) and 50:13 (second place)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim upsets Bobby in the Arena
By Jake Caddeau
On the days leading up to the hike Bobby kept saying,"Dude I'm gonna kick Jim's butt at the Arena." He didn't. I got knocked out by Bobby and then it was Bobby vs. Jim for the Championship. Bobby and Jim made a deal that Bobby would fight with two sabers and Jim would fight with one but if Jim won Bobby would have to go and tell everybody that Jim kicked his ass and that Jim was now the Champion for the year. Bobby's streak of seven in a row was ended and Jim's name was carved into the tree.
